A Geordie Bible!

Hanwell Town publish a history of the 'London Geordies'

Hanwell Town, these days the second favourite club of every northern Geordie, have recently released a book chronicling their history.

Entitled 'The London Geordies' and written by Colm Hickey, it traces the origin of football in Hanwell, the formation of the current club by demobbed Geordie soldiers working with the Great Western Railway in 1919-20. It traces disappointments and successes (there seem to be more of the former than the latter, although that looks set to change!), the club's periods in the Middlesex League, Spartan League, Spartan South Midlands League, Southern League and- most recently- Isthmian League, and the club's record in various cup competitions.

The book also introduces Geordie heroes past and present, from both on and off the field, lists the club's records on the field and gets prominent Geordies to name their all-time XI's.

All in all, it's a fascinating read for both Geordies and folks who don't have black and white blood in their veins, and is available from the club by heading here.
