A Margate trio

Margate strengthen for the run in

Margate yesterday announced three new arrivals, as they prepare to face Haringey Borough twice in three days- in the League, and the Semi-Finals of the Velocity Trophy.

First in was a striker, Louis Collins, who arrives from Sevenoaks Town. Forward Louis made twenty appearances for Oaks during the 2019-20 season, scoring four goals and catching the eye of higher-ranked Dover Athletic. He did very well on the Kent coast and scored a number of goals before the pandemic took hold again, after two years where injury regularly kept him on the sidelines, but he then returned to Oaks this season and has scored another fourteen goals in his thirty one games this season.

Prior to his first spell with Oaks he was at Scunthorpe United, and also played youth football with Millwall, Ebbsfleet United and Bromley. He scored 47 goals in 23 games with United's Under 15's, and was also top scorer as an Under 16 with Bromley, winning the Kent Youth League Golden Boot two seasons in succession before heading to Scunthorpe.

Next in was goalkeeper Dan Colmer, who has already played for Gate this season, along with Sevenoaks Town. He played seven times for Oaks after joining them in January, and twice for Gate. He spent time with Herne Bay last season, and was previously part of the Academy side at Dartford.

Forward Afolabi Soyemi-Ololade started the campaign at Hayes & Yeading United, but has also played this season at Leatherhead, playing only once, and at Westfield, where he played twenty one times and scored five goals. He previously played for Fisher and for Woodford Town.
