A Robins Quartet

McKimm brings four to Carshalton

Carshalton Athletic boss Steve McKimm has made four new signings, including a number of names familiar to Isthmian watchers.

Striker Jake Embery departed Herne Bay, aged just nineteen, in February 2019- a highly sought after signing after he scored forty nine goals in eighty five appearances at Winch's Field. He moved to Maidstone United, but his two years with the Stones were not only hit by the pandemic but also by injury, as he dislocated a shoulder and suffered an ankle problem which stopped the Gallagher Stadium faithful ever seeing the best of him. He was invited back for pre-season last year, but decided instead to head back to the Kent coast to sign for Margate, where he scored four goals in twelve appearances before moving to Horsham. He played four times for the Hornets before McKimm and National League South Tonbridge Angels came calling, and he also managed to fit in three matches for Leatherhead last season.

Midfielder Tom Beere was a Millwall youth but made his name at AFC Wimbledon, before moving on to become an Angel- and indeed was part of the Tonbridge side which won promotion at the end of 2018-19. he has also spent time with Leatherhead, Kingstonian and Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Bradley Pearce, a centre back, came through the ranks at Sutton United, but had so many loan spells he must have wondered where he was from one day to the next, turning out for the likes of Bedfont Sports, Egham Town, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Walton Casuals and Farnborough before finally moving on to Welling United last season.

Finally, Aaron Smith-Joseph came through the ranks at Woking before becoming a firm favourite at Burgess Hill Town, then moved upwards to spend last season with Tonbridge Angels.
