A Saturday Friendly round up- 29 August 2020

Here's what happened in today's matches

We had quite a number of pre-season friendlies today. Here’s what we’ve managed to glean from social media.

AFC Sudbury defeated Barking in a five goal thriller. Adams, Temple and somebody else- yes, we don’t know- scored for the yellows, whilst we don’t know who scored for the blues, either.

Ashford Town and Winchester City drew nil-nil.

Ashford United weren't so lucky, travelling to the Sussex seaside and falling two-one to Saltdean United. Image from that match from Simon Roe- see more of them here.

Aveley hosted Kingstonian, and the K’s continued their impressive pre-season with a one-nil win. Corie Andrews breached the Millers rearguard.

Bedfont Sports hosted Whyteleafe, and it was the visitors who triumphed, winning two-one. No idea of the scorers!

Brentwood Town and Margate played out a five goal thriller, with the North Division side ending up on top. Stannard and Swift scored for Gate.

Brightlingsea Regent went down three-one at Leiston. Jake Clowsley scored for Regent.

Burgess Hill Town and Cray Wanderers managed two goals each in Mid Sussex. Miller and Bennett scored for the Hillians, Parker and Taylor for Wands. Headline image from that match comes from Chris Neal, as always- and there are more where that came from, here.

Canvey Island won five-nil at Welwyn Garden City. Hunt (2), Joseph, Salmon and an own goal made the difference.

Bobby Price scored for Carshalton Athletic, but sadly visitors Tonbridge Angels got two.

Chalfont St Peter defeated Baldock Town four-two. Goalscorers unknown.

Chertsey Town took on Thatcham Town for the John Pomroy Cup, and after a two-all draw lifted their first silverware of the campaign with a six-five penalty shootout win. Scorers unknown.

Cheshunt hosted Waltham Abbey, and the visitors left with a six-two win. Hallett, Koranteng, Clark (2), Daniel and McKenzie scored for the Abbotts,

Chichester City went to Alfold and won four-one, with goals from Penny, Pritchard, Jones and Clack.

Coggeshall Town entertained Royston Town with Wall scoring for the Seed Growers, but ghe match ended in a one-all draw.

Corinthian-Casuals travelled to Croydon Athletic and won by four goals to one. Scorers not listed.

Cray Valley PM and Tilbury, both fancied for the new season, cancelled each other out in a goalless draw.

East Grinstead Town won four-nil at Cobham. Carvalho, Davies, Theophanous and Wedgeworth scored for the Wasps.

Enfield Town drew one-one at Walthamstow, Blackman with the goal.

Harlow Town hosted Romford, and the visitors took the spoils in a two-one win. Christian Adu- Gyamfi scored for the Hawks, we don’t know who scored for Boro.

We believe that Hanwell Town defeated Haringey Borough three-one, but nobody has yet confirmed that the match has finished!

Hastings United travelled to Gary Alexander’s Glebe and drew two-all. Chalmers and Capon scored for the visitors.

Heybridge Swifts entertained their neighbours from Maldon, and probably won't want us to mention the outcome. The Jammers left for the short journey home with a six-two victory- Adlington got both of the home goals, Mason (2), Barnwell, Kemp and two trialists scored for the visitors.

Horsham travelled to Hartley Wintney and lost for the first time this summer, going down three-two. Smith and Miles scored for the Hornets.

Hullbridge Sports defeated Coggeshall United by three goals to one. Thomas, Cocklin and Bishop scored for Sports.

Lewes fell to a two-nil defeat at SCEFL side Corinthian, who have beaten a number of our sides over the last few weeks.

Northwood fell to a two-nil defeat against Potters Bar Town, Woods fielding eight trialists. Constantinou scored for the Scholars.

A young Ramsgate side drew one-one at Uckfield Town, with Kane Rowland finding the net.

Sittingbourne fell to a one-nil defeat at Woodstock Park, Gillingham Under 23’s leaving with the spoils.

Staines Town hosted Aldershot Town and drew one-one, Temi Eweka with the goal.

Tooting & Mitcham Utd took on their own Under 23 side and won five-nil. Williams, Adjei, Rose and Stewart all scored.

Uxbridge hosted Wingate & Finchley and the visitors won two-one. Bitmead scored for the hosts.

Ware hosted AFC Dunstable n the Sean Mynott Memorial Match, and Jordan Watson got both goals in a two-nil win.

Westfield hosted Haywards Heath Town, the visitors under new management after Lloyd Cotton took over from Shaun Saunders. It certainly didn’t harm their confidence as they won by four goals to nil, scorers unknown.

Whitehawk fell to a one-nil defeat at Eastbourne Borough.

Finally, Witham Town went down three-two at Clacton.
