A Saturday friendly round up

By Ian Townsend

We had goals. We had sunshine. We had a few covid related postponements. Here's hoping for only the first two when the season kicks off.

We had a number of matches yesterday, so here- with a margin for error based on the fact that most of this information comes from social media- is what happened.

AFC Sudbury fell to as two-one defeat at home to Brightlingsea Regent. Harry McDonald opened the scoring with a 25 yard rocket on the hour, and shortly afterwards Jake Turner equalised for AFC Sudbury from the penalty spot. Regent got the winner with 10 minutes to play thanks to a Trialist.

Alresford Town defeated a rather youthful Hastings United side by five goals to one, Sam Adams with the U's goal, whilst Ashford Town fell two-nil against Raynes Park Vale.

Aveley defeated Cray Valley PM two-one at Parkside. Nzengo and Donovan scored for the home Millers, Sammoutis for the away Milers- and there's a report from a Millers perspective (!) here.

Barking fell to a two-nil home defeat against Burgess Hill Town, Ndozid and Finney with the goals, whilst Bedfont Sports got three against Potters Bar Town- but the Scholars got five! Ibie got two for the Scholars, a trialist and Keagan Cole were also amongst their scorers. Sanders and Webb were amongst the scorers for Sports.

Bracknell Town defeated Beaconsfield Town four-two, scorers unknown, whilst Canvey Island won three-two as they hosted Hornchurch- Chatting, Price and Kouassi with goals for the Gulls, Winn and a trialist for the Urchins.

Chipping Sodbury Town defeated Marlow two-one, with Mealing on the scoresheet for the visitors, whilst Chipstead hosted Corinthian-Casuals, the Premier Division side leaving with a three-nil victory. Our headline image comes from that match, we suspect courtesy of Stuart Tree, but we don't know the goalscorers. Perhaps Stuart got a hat trick!

Colliers Wood Utd and Tooting and Mitcham Utd shared four goals equally, Williams & Krokin for the Terrors, whilst Corinthian didn't share anything with AFC Uckfield, scoring seven without reply.

Crowborough Athletic defeated Haywards Heath Town one-nil, whilst
Dorking Wanderers managed four without reply against Leatherhead.

Dover Athletic defeated Ashford United by four goals to one, Steventon scoring for the Nuts and Bolts- read more about that here, whilst
East Thurrock United fell to a narrow one goal defeat against Southend United.

Faversham Town fell two-one against Sheppey United, Harding with the goal for the Lilywhites, whilst Folkestone Invicta unveiled their new Harry Lester Scoreboard, and christened it positively with a two-one win against Hythe Town. Paxman and Dolan for the hosts.

Glebe defeated East Grinstead Town six-nil, whilst Danny Gould scored for Grays Athletic against Kingstonian, but the K's got two.

Great Yarmouth Town hosted Stowmarket Town, and our new North Division side ran out six-nil winners, scorers unknown, whilst Hanwell Town defeated Slough Town U23's two-one.

Havant & Waterlooville hosted Bognor Regis Town, and our Rocks ran out three-two winners, with Skoczen, Flanagan and Diedrick-Roberts on target for Bognor. Teniola and Cole scored for Heybridge Swifts as they beat Baldock Town two-one, whilst Northwood lost by the same scoreline at Holmer Green.

Horndean defeated Chichester City two-one, Jones with the goal for Chi, whilst Horsham lost five-nil against Crawley Town, whilst Dereham Town won at Lowestoft Town, Bammant and Hillard with the goals.

Margate defeated Guildford City by two goals to one, Hatton and Embery with the goals, whilst a trialist scored for Merstham, but Tonbridge Angels got two.

Ramsgate opened their new pitch against Tottenham Hotspur U23, and it seems that a good time was had by all, but we've no idea what the score was- whilst Saltdean United defeated Lancing three-nil.

Sawbridgeworth Town and Romford shared two goals, and there's a report here, L’Heureux Menga with the Boro goal,
whilst Brentwood Town won four-two at Sevenoaks Town, and there's a neutral report here that you might enjoy.

Spelthorne Sports saw Chertsey Town arrive and win two-nil, whilst Lewes won three-nil at VCD Athletic.

Walton and Hersham v Westfield went ahead but we've no idea what happened, whilst White Ensign fell three-one against Hashtag United, scorers unknown.

Whitehawk and Chalfont St Peter didn't get a goal between them, whilst Witham Town and Hackney Wick managed five, Wick getting three of them.
