A Saturday friendly round up

By Ian Townsend

We had lots of friendlies yesterday. Here’s a brief round up of those we know about!

It’s very difficult to keep up with friendly matches as some of them are kept almost a secret, but here, so far as we know, are the outcomes from yesterday.

Corinthian-Casuals defeated Hilltop two-nil in their Egri Erbstein tournament at King George’s Field, so will host Sheffield FC in the final TODAY at 4PM.

Corinthian and East Thurrock United drew two-two, with Olly Miles scoring for the Rocks.

Folkestone Invicta welcomed Maidstone United in a testimonial for Ian Draycott, and the Stones rolled away with a two-one win. Ade Yusuff scored for Invicta.

Beckenham Town defeated Banstead Athletic four-nil, whilst Leatherhead defeated National League side Dorking Wanderers three-two to lift the Surrey Advertiser Trophy. Dave Tarpey scored two for the Tanners.

Romford and Brentwood Town drew two-two, whilst Grays Athletic won two-one at Buckhurst Hill, Sam Bantick and Aron Gordon with the goals.

Felixstowe & Walton United defeated Colchester United U23’s by three goals to two, with goals from Barley and Brown, whilst Great Wakering Rovers defeated White Ensign four-one.

Wroxham defeated Sherringham three-nil, Bradley Spooner with a couple, whilst Haringey Borough won a three-team tournament with Cheshunt and Kings Lynn Town, defeating the Ambers two-nil and drawing with Town one-one. Sambu and Ashman scored against Cheshunt.

AFC Sudbury apparently defeated Whitton United eight-nil- but we must point out that this scoreline isn't confirmed by either club!

Bowers & Pitsea won the Memorial Cup against Canvey Island on penalties, five-four after a one-one draw.

Horndean welcomed Bognor Regis Town, and the Rocks won two-nil, goals from Olaniyan and Chalaye.

Met Police walloped Horsham five-one, with Shamir Fenelon getting a consolation for the Hornets, who were five down by then.

Brightlingsea Regent and Hashtag United drew one-one. Sotoyinbo scored for the hosts, Toby Aromolaran for the Tags.

Hornchurch hammered Concord Rangers four-one (at Aveley), with goals from Bertram-Cooper, Stimson and Nash (and an own goal), whilst Hastings United lost one-nil to Beaconsfield Town.

Spelthorne Sports welcomed Chertsey Town, and the Curfews won three-one, whilst Burgess Hill Town won two-one at Chipstead, with goals from Tighe and Kelly. Stanic-Stewart scored the opener for the Chips.

The Isle of Man defeated Guernsey two-nil, whilst Northwood won two-one at Hertford Town, Ibie with the goals.

Deal Town hosted Sevenoaks Town, the Oaks leaving with a four-one win, whilst Haywards Heath Town lost three-nil to Hartley Wintney.
U.S Portsmouth (at HMS Temeraire) welcomed Littlehampton Town, the Golds winning NINE-nil- Josh Short with a hat trick, Dion Jarvis with four, Lucas Pattenden with the other two; whilst Margate lost three-one to Tonbridge Angels, Bessey-Saldanha scoring for the Blues.

Sheppey Utd scored NINE against K Sports, with goals from Bennett, Leonard (2), Aibangbee, Gillies, Lambert, Mfula, Grant and Hagan, whilst K Sports did get three back, so only a dull twelve goal match!

Hassocks welcomed Whitehawk, the Hawks winning SEVEN-one, Charlie Harris getting three, Splatt, Lambert and Miles also on the scoresheet. The match was marred by an injury to former Burgess Hill Town legend Pat Harding, these days playing for Hassocks, who broke several ribs. Get well soon, maestro.
