A South Central- and North- Tuesday

By Ian Townsend

The Baggies, The Chips, The Curfews and the Motormen are at home in League and Cup tonight

Badshot Lea and Leatherhead will hope to crash into the Pitching In Isthmian South Central top five this evening- but the Baggies and Tanners have Ashford Town and Chipstead standing in their way.

The Baggies, who start the day in eighth place, have been on a fine run- only one defeat from twelve across all competitions, and that on penalties. They’ve taken nineteen points from the last twenty one in the league, and another win tonight could take them as high as fifth place- but Ashford Town stand in their way. The Tangerines make the trip on the back of three consecutive defeats, and will hope to put an end to that run.

The Tanners have slipped off the pace a little of late, with only one win from their last four- a run which has seen them slip from second down to sixth. They travel the relatively short distance to Chipstead, their hosts only three points further back but having also hit a bit of an inconsistent run, their last four matches seeing each win followed by a defeat. That said, if that pattern continues they are due a win tonight! Leatherhead have won four of the last five meetings between the clubs.

In the Velocity Cup, South Central leaders Chertsey Town welcome Westfield. The Curfews have charged to the top of the table by winning their last six matches, however their visitors have also been in decent form, their last ten matches in all competitions bringing eight wins and only two defeats. The two sides met at the end of August, and didn’t manage a goal between them- but someone has to win this one.

Onto Pitching In Isthmian North, and Lowestoft Town play their game in hand over leaders Felixstowe & Walton United knowing that victory over Redbridge will take them to the summit once more. The last three matches have seen the Trawler Boys score thirteen goals whilst conceding none, and striker Jake Reed is on a red hot streak, scoring in his last eight matches. The Motormen have fallen away in recent weeks, starting the day in tenth after taking only one point from their last three matches- each against a side fighting for a play off place- but are undefeated at home this season and should prove tough opponents.
