Heybridge Swifts give away their stock to the NHS

Heybridge Swifts have- as usual- been showing their generous side, as they've given the stock from their snack bar to NHS workers at Chelmsford's Broomfield Hospital.

As reported by The Maldon Standard, the club realised that much of the stock was likely to expire, and decided that the best thing to do with it would be to show some care to those who have been caring for their community during the pandemic.

Speaking to the paper, Steve Spreadbury explained:

“Our youth section secretary, Debbie Hill, started looking at the best places to try to send the items.

The goods were delivered to operating theatre teams, recovery units, TART outreach teams, mortuary and radiology staff at Broomfield Hospital on Saturday.

We would just like to say a massive thank you to all the staff at the NHS for all their sterling work in trying to assist people in recovering from this virus.”

Well done to Swifts- and if your club is doing something community spirited, please let us know so that we can feature it here.

My First XI: Ian Guppy, Bognor Regis Town Rocks stalwart Ian has dared to be different- he hasn’t given us a Rocks XI, but a side made up of players he’s seen play against the Rocks!
