A Wanderers double

By Ian Townsend

Charley Barker and Andy Fennell are new at Ipswich Wanderers

Ipswich Wanderers prepared for the weekend by strengthening their squad, Charley Barker and Andy Fennell the new arrivals.

Midfielder Charley made forty one appearances for Haringey Borough as they qualified for the Playoffs during 2018-19, and then became a Scholar, joining in January 2020 and making a handful of appearances before the 2019-20 season fell over, and a handful more before the same happened to the 20-21 campaign.

He started his career at Leyton Orient, being loaned out to Northwood and Soham Town Rangers, before moving to Braintree Town.

He was announced as a signing for Bishop's Stortford in the summer of 2021, but almost immediately left for St Neots Town, and spent last season with Bury Town, playing thirty two times.

Andy Fennell spent the closing stages of last season with Felixstowe & Walton United, playing four times and scoring once. He joined the Seasiders from Heybridge Swifts, where he managed ten goals last season, in thirty four matches. He also got eleven in twenty two matches last season, and five in seven during the hardly-started-before-it-stopped 2020-21 campaign.

Prior to his time with Swifts Andy played at Step three with both Needham Market and Leiston. He also played a step higher, spending time with Chelmsford City.
