A Young Ram

By Ian Townsend

Former Lewes and Worthing man Alfie Young is new at Ramsgate

Ramsgate had a new man in their defence as they defeated Broadbridge Heath in Sussex on Saturday, as former Worthing and Lewes man Alfie Young made his first start for the club.

Defender Alfie made forty four appearances for Lewes as they narrowly missed out on a Play Off spot last season. He joined the Rooks from Kingstonian- one of three clubs he appeared for during 2021-22. He made sixteen appearances for the K's- the first one of those coming against Potters Bar Town, the club he had just left, and for whom he played eleven times after leaving Worthing.

He made half a dozen appearances for the Mackerel Men during the 21-22 season, thirty three appearances during 2019-20, and a couple more during 2020-21, which was interrupted for him by injury as well as by the lockdown which impacted on all of us.

Prior to his time as a Mackerel Man he came through the Watford Academy, before moving on to play for Hendon and Wingate and Finchley. He made nine appearances for the Greens during our 2016-17 season, and another eighteen for the Blues during that same campaign.
