AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- April 2022

By Ian Townsend

We have four deserved winners of our last Golden Gloves Awards of the season, sponsored by the fabulous folks at AB1 Goalkeeping

It’s time to recognise our best defences of April! Please note, the outcomes are all calculated on statistics in league matches- and don't include the Play Offs.

Here we go:

Premier Division

We’re off to Bishop’s Stortford, AGAIN! Indeed, we might as well have just pitched a tent there, we feel like we’ve spent most of the season just off the M11! The Blues managed to concede only two goals during the month of April and the regular season, and that was hardly a surprise.

It may be no consolation for their lack of promotion, but at least Jack Giddens now has so many pairs of gloves he could open his own market stall. Congratulations Jack, brilliant as always.

North Division

It’s time for a visit to the Arena of Brentwood, where we have a fabulous pair of gloves for Town keeper Harry Girling. April saw Town win five matches in a row and concede only three goals, a magnificent return, and it was unsurprising that they got so close to promotion last Friday night.

Harry, it might be not much consolation for Play Off Final defeat, but great credit to you and that fabulous Town defence.

South Central Division

We’re off to Bracknell Town again. Please don’t complain, it’s not our fault that the Robins are virtually unbeatable and their defence virtually impenetrable!

We’ve run out of superlatives, so we’ll just pay tribute to Michael Eacott and all who stand in front of him. Many congratulations for being continually fabulous.

South East Division

We’re off to our Play Off winners Herne Bay. One of the main reasons that Bay got the chance to win the play offs was their fabulous form during April, a month which saw them play five matches of the regular season without conceding a single goal. If ever there was a time to hit top form, Bay keeper Jordan Perrin and his fabulous defence got it exactly right.

Many congratulations Jordan- we’ve a pair of gloves coming your way, ready for use in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier next season.

Thanks to AB1 Goalkeeping for being our sponsors. You can take a look at their magnificent products- and they don’t just sell gloves- by heading HERE.

Premier League winner and international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be best known for his work between the posts, particularly for Stoke City, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth. But he also has his own company- AB1 Goalkeeping- who provide magnificent products for discerning goalkeepers everywhere- and we are lucky enough to have them as sponsors of our Golden Gloves Award. As they explain:

'AB1 Goalkeeping was the brainchild of one of the Premier League’s leading goalkeepers, Asmir Begovic. With his 15 years’ experience playing at the highest levels of top-flight international football, plus a development team with over 20 years’ experience of developing first-class goalkeeping products, we have a range of equipment to suit all levels of the game, from Grass Roots Football to the Premier League.'
