AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- December 2021

By Ian Townsend

It’s time to consign 2021 to the back of the net, but in doing so let’s honour some people who let very little else in there! Here are the winners of our December Golden Gloves Awards, sponsored by the fabulous folks at AB1 Goalkeeping

It’s time to recognise our best defences of December, with help from AB1 goalkeeping! Please note, the outcomes are all calculated on statistics in league matches.

Here we go:

Premier Division

We start with the story of the Blues, visiting Bishop’s Stortford. The Blues are having a fine season, greatly helped by their parsimonious defence, which conceded only two goals during a December where they cemented their place in our top five. Jack Giddens is their main man, so congrats go to Jack and all those who stand steadfastly in front of him.

North Division

We visited Stowmarket Town last month, and we liked it so much that we decided to go back again! Two goals conceded and two clean sheets saw Town have a fabulous December to follow their fabulous November, hitting the top of the table. James Bradbrook is their custodian, and if he continues like this he’ll never have to buy a pair of gloves again! Congratulations to James and his defence.

South Central Division

To get to the top you’ve got to play at the bottom, it seems- Bottom Meadow, at least! Bracknell Town won this award in November, and here we are again, as December saw one goal conceded and three clean sheets. Michael Eacott was the main man once more, and congrats go again to Michael and to his rock steady back line. Perhaps we should just pitch a tent there, save us going back again next month?

South East Division

Our Pitching In Isthmian South East table has a rather ominous look about it, with favourites Hastings United at the top. December saw the side from Pilot Field win every league match, and furthermore do that without conceding a single goal- a momentous feat for which their number one, Louis Rogers, can take a large part of the credit. Louis and his defence have been quite magnificent, and a pair of gloves will soon be off to the Sussex seaside in recognition.

Thanks to AB1 Goalkeeping for being our sponsors. You can take a look at their magnificent products- and they don’t just sell gloves- by heading HERE.

Premier League winner and international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be best known for his work between the posts, particularly for Stoke City, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth. But he also has his own company- AB1 Goalkeeping- who provide magnificent products for discerning goalkeepers everywhere- and we are lucky enough to have them as sponsors of our Golden Gloves Award. As they explain:

'AB1 Goalkeeping was the brainchild of one of the Premier League’s leading goalkeepers, Asmir Begovic. With his 15 years’ experience playing at the highest levels of top-flight international football, plus a development team with over 20 years’ experience of developing first-class goalkeeping products, we have a range of equipment to suit all levels of the game, from Grass Roots Football to the Premier League.'
