Adeniyi named as new player-boss

Former Dulwich Hamlet captain Peter Adeniyi is taking his first steps into management in Ryman South next season as the new player manager at Carshalton Athletic.

The midfielder was unveiled as the successor to Chris McGinn at the Robins this week after the former Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham and QPR and Wigan coach left Colston Avenue at the end of the season following his 14 games at the helm as the replacement for Matt Howard in January.

The 36-year-old, pictured, was named as the Surrey club's player-manager for the 2016-17 campaign after arriving late last season and making 11 appearances.

As well as skippering Hamlet in his second spell at Champion Hill, Adeniyi won promotion with Merstham in 2014-15 and has also played for Eastleigh, Erith Town, Lewes, Beckenham Town and Bromley.
