And within hours of agreeing a new deal on Thursday at last season's Southern Counties East League with chairman Perry Skinner, Alexander went on to sign former Carshalton Athletic, Leyton Orient and Charlton Athletic midfielder Bradley Pritchard who spent the end of last season on loan at Stevenage.
The Zimbabwean international was released by League Two Orient in May after kicking off his career at the Robins before spells at Nuneaton Borough, Tamworth and Hayes & Yeading United.
A Loughborough University graduate, the 30-year-old earned himself a contract with the Addicks in 2011 while working as a performance analyst and excelling in a trial, going on make a total of 79 appearances for the club.
Officials at the Badgers Sports Ground announced the arrival of the League One and Conference North winner hours after releasing a statement earlier in the day confirming that Alexander, pictured, was going nowhere.
Boro said: "The club are delighted to confirm that our manager Gary Alexander has agreed to sign a long term deal with the club. Gary had been offered a position in the last week to join League Division Two club Stevenage in an assistant manager, coach role.
"After taking time out to way up his options and talking with our chairman Perry Skinner we can confirm he will be signing a contract shortly that commits him to the club long term."
Alexander said: “It’s an honour to be linked and indeed offered a post at a Football League club such as Stevenage after just a short period of time in management. I have been in this role at Borough with John [Mackie] for just eight months and we are in the process of building something special on and off the pitch.
"I have always done things in my career with my family as priority and after talking with them and Perry we will now have the stability to build on what we have started here. No doubt I will sit down with Perry shortly and put pen to paper but we have agreed a long term deal verbally and I’m more than happy.”
