All change up top for Sheppey

Ernie Batten moves up, Jack Midson steps in- watch his first interview, here

Sheppey United this morning made the surprising announcement that manager Ernie Batten, who has steered them to unprecedented success, is to step upstairs and take on the role of Director of Football.

He will be replaced as boss by Jack Midson, who should be well known to Isthmian watchers and is certainly well known to Ites fans as the striker had a rather successful time in front of goal for them last season, scoring thirteen goals despite missing most of the campaign through injury.

Jack came through the ranks at Stevenage Borough, but sprang to prominence during a long and successful period with AFC Wimbledon, who he joined from Oxford United. After leaving the Dons he played for Eastleigh and Braintree Town before joining Leatherhead alongside boss Sammy Moore for the 2017-18 season, the Tanners narrowly missing out on a Play Off Place and reaching the Second Round of the FA Cup. He and Sammy moved on to Concord Rangers, and then to Hemel Hempstead Town, before Jack started last season at Sheppey- and was in fine form before that season-ending injury.

Read more about Ernie's move upstairs, and Jack's appointment, by heading here. The new manager's reign will commence on Saturday, as his side enter the FA Cup at Extra Preliminary Round stage, at Athletic Newham.

And now you can watch the club's first interview with their new boss, below.
