Cheshunt announce establishment of senior women's side- and girls football too

Cheshunt yesterday announced that they are to start a senior women's team and a Wildcats programme for girls from five to eleven. The club already has Senior, Youth, Inclusive and Walking football teams, so this move effectively completes their whole community approach to football.

Speaking to the club website- you can read the full article here- Chair Dean Williamson explained:

'We will look to build a pathway of continuity and sustainability whereby the female section will truly become part of ”The Amber Revolution". We will widen awareness and ensure closer ties with the local community from the female perspective, working alongside the FA as part of their plans to double Women’s and Girls participation in football by the end of the 2020/21 season.

There has never been a pathway for young girls locally to aspire to wear the Cheshunt badge and become an "Amberette". However there is now huge media interest and global sponsors interested in the Women’s game and, with this type of exposure, the opportunity for growth is now and the timing of the launch of the female pathway is perfect.'

Grant Palmer has been appointed Head of Women’s & Girls football at the club. Grant has previously been with Norwich City, Leyton Orient and Harlow Town, amongst others.
