Williamson and the club's players woke to a text from the former Ware, Waltham Abbey and Harlow manager, pictured, informing them that he was leaving Theobalds Lane just under a year after taking charge last October.
Hours later, assistant managers Paul Wickenden and Andy Crawford, along with goalkeeping coach Peter Russell, guided the Ambers to a 1-1 draw at home to Soham Town Rangers to collect a valuable point and climb to 11th in the table.
In a statement confirming Alzapeidi's departure, Williamson said: "It's disappointing news to wake up to. What was more disappointing was the way that I was told: a text message sent to the players that I'm copied in to.

"I've had the opportunity to now speak with Glen and I'm told that it's the manner in which an opinion was expressed to him by the club owner that has led him to leave. This is the second time that Glen has tendered his resignation to me, both for different reasons, and I'm disappointed.
"There also seems to be a misconception that we influence the team selection, which is simply not the case and something that I take very personally. My influence is on what happens off the pitch, not on it, and the great leaps this club has taken in the last four years are clear for everyone to see.
"In the grand scheme of where this club is heading and the plans that are in place, today's news is a minor but unfortunate blip and I wish Glen well for the future. The most important thing right now though is that we picked up a point against Soham today thanks to the work of Paul, Andy and Peter and the efforts of the team."
