Angels and Robins fly high, Wands show their magic, whilst United remain perfect.

It’s our round up of yesterday’s action

It is often said that the Manager of the Month Award brings with it a curse. Well three of the four winners of August’s award, announced earlier this week, proved that theory incorrect by recording victory yesterday, only Ashford United manager Gary Alexander finding the prize didn’t bring him luck.

Premier Division

In the Premier Division Tonbridge Angels fans will be suffering from vertigo this morning, with their side sitting six points clear at the top of the table. Alex Reid gave Steve McKimm’s side a first half lead at Brightlingsea Regent, and Angels were rewarded for their second half pressure with a second goal just before the end, Jared Small with it. This result leaves Wingate & Finchley as the only side who have managed to score against Angels this season.

Four sides sit behind Angels on 13 points, with none of them managing a win yesterday. Enfield Town are second, but goodness they came close to losing the game, as they were 2-0 down at Lewes with only nine minutes left. Billy Bricknell, on as a sub, grabbed two goals within two minutes to equal earlier efforts from Jonte Smith and Charlie Coppola in front of 648 at the Dripping Pan. Third place Bognor travelled to Carshalton Athletic and a Jimmy Muitt goal cancelled out an earlier 25 yard strike from the Robins Jordan Cheadle to earn them a point, whilst fourth place Folkestone Invicta failed to beat bottom side Burgess Hill Town for the second time in a week, a sixtieth minute strike from Adam Yusuff giving them a point after defeat in the Cup last weekend. Dan Beck equalised for Hill ten minutes later.

Worthing are fifth, and lost for the first time this season in front of 905 at the Bibby Financial Services Stadium. Margate’s Joe Taylor got the only goal of the game.

Dorking Wanderers in sixth managed the comeback of the day, recovering from three goals down at home to AFC Hornchurch- in eighth- to snatch a point. Lewwis Spence, Tobi Coker and Nathan Cooper gave the Urchins a seemingly unassailable half time lead, but Kieran Lavery, Jason Prior and Niall McManus found the net in the second half to give Wanderers what had seemed like an unlikely point.

Whitehawk sit ninth, and took an early lead yesterday through James Fraser. They were then undone, however, as two penalties from Joel Nouble gave Haringey Borough a half time lead. Nouble then completed his hat trick midway through the second half to seal the victory.

At the bottom of the table, Corinthian-Casuals left it late but managed to win their first ever Bostik Premier Division game, 2-1 at Harlow Town. After a goalless first half Jason Raad struck for the Hawks, but Coskum Ekim was able to equalise from a free kick and in added time Daniel Cunningham earned his side all of the points.

A first half goal from Robert Cullen gave Leatherhead victory at Potters Bar Town, whilst Sean Cronin and Marc Weatherstone gave Wingate & Finchley a 2-0 win at home to Merstham. Finally, Kingstonian scored deep into stoppage time as they retrieved victory at home to Bishop’s Stortford. Shaun Lucien and Greg Cundle had given the K’s a 2-0 half time lead, only for veteran striker Jamie Cureton to hall the blues level in the second half. That looked to be that, but Tommy Brewer had other ideas, giving Kingstonian victory deep into stoppage time.

North Division

In the North Division, Basildon United are perfect. They may not score too many, but they concede far fewer, and yesterday Jack Adlington-Pile gave them a 1-0 win over Soham Town Rangers to maintain their 100% record and see them go two points clear at the top.

Bowers and Pitsea head a quartet of clubs with ten points, and yesterday they celebrated the opening of their new 3G pitch at the Len Salmon with a 4-0 thrashing of Felixstowe and Walton United. David Knight did the most damage, with a hat trick, Lewis Manor rubbing salt in the Seasiders wounds two minutes before the end.

Maldon & Tiptree sit just behind Bowers, but they lost to another side now on ten points, Canvey Island. A Josh Hutchinson double was enough to give Canvey the points despite an equaliser from De-Carrey Sheriff. Romford sit between the Jammers and the Islanders, and Paul Martin’s Manager of the Month Award will shine brightly alongside the glow that comes from earning yet another three points, after a 3-1 win over AFC Sudbury. Taylor Tombides (2) and Jonathon Nzeng scored first half goals for The Boro, whilst Ben Hunter replied for Sudbury.

Aveley are both sixth and delighted, as they came back from 2-0 down at home to Heybridge Swifts to win 3-2. A Sam Bantick double had given Jody Brown’s side the lead, but another double, from Alex Akrofi, was then added to by Thomas Richardson to ensure a happy band of Millers would be leaving Parkside yesterday evening. Dereham Town are just behind Aveley, second half goals from Daniel Beaumont and Ashley Jarvis earning a 2-0 win over Witham Town, whilst Witham’s neighbours Coggeshall Town will be slightly disappointed after letting a 1-0 lead- given to them by Connor Hubble- slip only two minutes from the end, Lewis Smith getting the equaliser for Tilbury.

Bury Town are tenth, courtesy of winning a five goal thriller against Great Wakering Rovers. Ollie Hughes and Tanner Call’s efforts for Town had been cancelled out by Stephen Butterworth and Billy Johnson for Rovers, but a late own goal kept all of the points at Ram Meadow.

Elsewhere, Michael Mignot gave Grays Athletic victory at Brentwood Town, whilst first half goals from Afolabi Obafemi and Rashid Kamara gave Barking the points at Mildenhall Town, for whom Thomas Boxer replied.

South Central Division

A goal early in each half, the first from Manager of the Month Carl Davies and the second from Adam Cornell, maintained Bracknell Town’s 100% record at the top of the South Division, giving them all three points despite a late consolation from Luke Alfano for Northwood. Waltham Abbey sit second, Charlie Stimson scoring the only goal of their encounter with Hayes & Yeading United- who are fifth; whilst Marlow moved to third, Kameron English in the first half and Chris Ovenden in the second enough to give them victory over FC Romania. Uxbridge are one of three sides- Marlow and Bracknell the others- yet to taste defeat in the league, and they defeated Ware 2-1, goals from Matt Sinclair and Joe Wright doing the damage, with Jordon Watson replying. Uxbridge are fourth.

Hanwell Town sit just outside the top five after a 0-0 draw with Chipstead (14th), whilst goals from Jason Hallett, Olu Akinsanya and Mark Hughes gave Cheshunt an unassailable 3-0 lead against South Park before Tyreke Leslie reduced the arrears for Mick Sullivan’s men.

It’s been an up and down season so far for Tooting & Mitcham United, and yesterday became one of those down days, goals from Elliott Doley, James Cottee and Max Webb giving the Tangerines of Ashford Town a 3-2 win at Imperial Fields despite the best efforts of Isiah Jones and Razzaq Coleman for the Terrors.

Westfield sit just behind Town, in tenth place, and they buried the Moles 4-0 at Walton Road, a double from Karle Carder-Andrews and one each from Arron Watson and Daryl Cooper Smith doing the damage. We may have to call in the dubious goals committee on that one, however, as Watson- on social media- states that he was the one with a brace, Andrews only getting one!

The first ever match between Bedfont Sports and Chalfont St Peter ended with victory for the away side in a five goal thriller, James Simmons and Scott Harris scoring for Sports, an Adam Morris double and Charlie Mitchell sending the points back to Chalfont. Finally, Egham Town and Hertford Town waited until the last eight minutes to trouble the net, then both did it, George Lutaaya giving the away side the lead before Ashley Lodge replied for the Sarnies.

South East Division

We started the day with four sides having 100% records, and ended it with just one. Cray Wanderers went to Ashford United and a brace from Michael Power, with a Jay leader goal sandwiched in between, gave Wands the victory and top spot. Stefan Cox got the consolation for Gary Alexander’s side.

Hastings United drop to second, entirely undone by Hythe Town striker Zak Ansah, who got his ninth, tenth and eleventh goals of the season as the Cannons moved up to fifth. Hassan Ibrahim got a last minute goal for the U’s.

Whyteleafe, in third, fell 2-1 to the Brickies as Sittingbourne climbed to eighth, Mobolaji Dawodu and Tommie Fagg scoring for the home side with Marvin Armstrong reducing the arrears, whilst VCD Athletic, in fourth, perhaps surprisingly went down 3-1 at East Grinstead Town. Karn Miller-Neave, Abodje Yao and George Landais found the net for the Wasps, whilst Jonathan Adebayo scored for Vickers.

Faversham Town are sixth, and went behind at Three Bridges as Jensen Grant opened the scoring in the tenth minute. Dean Grant and Jack Harris then gave the away side the advantage before Danny Walder made it 1-3 before the break. In the second half Tyrone Berry reduced the arrears and gave Bridges hope, but Grant then scored his second to seal a 4-2 win and leave Bridges still looking for their first point.

A side who did get their first point were Sevenoaks Town, but they’ll think they should have had more, Alec Fiddes and Frankie Sawyer giving them a two goal lead against Haywards Heath Town before Callum Saunders scored two late on to earn Heath a draw.

Greenwich Borough found their shooting boots, a hat trick from Reece Deakin and one from Teshuane Tyreece Walters giving them a 4-0 win over Guernsey and lifted them to eleventh, whilst Ramsgate are tenth, Harry Stannard and Aaron Millbank scoring in a 2-1 win over Thamesmead Town, for whom Bode Anidugbe got the goal. Horsham are twelfth, Chris Smith with the only goal of the game against Herne Bay at Culver Road, whilst, finally, Whitstable Town travelled to Phoenix Sports and a goal in each half from Ricky Freeman meant they left with the points.
