Can the top two get back to winning ways?
Farnham and Kingstonian are on the road, whilst Hartley, Villa, Ascot and Uxbridge have only a point between them. It’s our South Central preview
Leading duo Farnham Town and Kingstonian both slipped up last weekend- and after the K’s were held by Binfield in midweek the leaders hold a three point lead and a significantly better goal difference.
Farnham are on the road to Rayners Lane hoping to start another winning run. Lane have lost their last three, and are down in fourteenth place, but have been very good on their own patch- the only side in the Division yet to lose a match at home.
The K’s travel to Southall, an eight match winning run followed by one point from their last two games. The All are in eleventh after a rather hit and miss season so far, but did win five-nil at Sutton Common Rovers last time out, and have won five of their last seven, so perhaps are beginning to gel and will hope to begin a promotion charge.
Third place Hartley Wintney are looking for a fourth consecutive win as they welcome Binfield. The Row are seven points away from second place, ten points behind the leaders, but have Hanworth Villa, Ascot United and Uxbridge only a point behind so perhaps can’t afford to drop points! The Moles are in fifteenth, six points clear of the bottom four and looking for a third unbeaten match.
Hanworth Villa welcome bottom side Badshot Lea. The Villains are looking for a fifth consecutive win, whilst the Baggies, who are eight points from safety, are in their best form of the season and hoping to make it three games unbeaten.
Ascot United are looking for a sixth consecutive win. The Yellas, up into the top five, are on the road to Harrow Borough, their hosts four points and four places behind them after experiencing a downturn in their fortunes, losing six of their last seven.
Uxbridge head to Portsmouth, where they take on Moneyfields. The Red Army were left disappointed as their side was hammered by Hartley Wintney last weekend, but that was only their second defeat in ten, and the visitors will be determined to put that right. The Moneys are in good form, however, having won three of their last four, and will want to increase the five point gap between themselves and the bottom four.
Hayes & Yeading United head to Westfield. United have only lost one of their last nine, but only one win from their last five leaves them three points away from the top five. Westfield are three points further back, in tenth, and are on a rather inconsistent run, four wins and five defeats from their last ten.
Raynes Park Vale, hit by the loss of top scorer Jordan Gallagher to Farnham Town in midweek, are at home to Met Police. Vale have slipped to eighth after three consecutive defeats, whilst the travelling boys in blue have lost five of their last six, a run which has dropped them into the bottom four.
Leatherhead and Horndean meet at Fetcham Grove, one place and two points between them- in favour of the visitors. The Deans have only one defeat from their last six, whilst the Tanners are three unbeaten and are looking for a third consecutive win.
South Park Reigate, who picked up our Shepherd Neame Performance of the Month Award for their win at Kingstonian last weekend, welcome the side one place and two points behind them, Sutton Common Rovers. Neither side have been in good form, the Sparks with just that win from their last six, Rovers having only one win from ten. South Park rely on their home record, their visitors have been far better on the road than at home, so who knows what might happen!
Twentieth v twenty first, Ashford Town and Guernsey are five and six points from safety, and they meet in Cobham at 1PM. The Tangerines have taken three points- all draws- from the last thirty available, whilst the Green Lions have only one win from ten. Guernsey have been marginally better on the road than on their own patch, whilst the hosts will be desperate to get back to their own stadium. Hopefully it won’t take too much longer! Match Postponed.
