Bantick back at Swifts

Sam Bantick returns to Heybridge Swifts- and scores as they defeat New Salamis- highlights below

Heybridge Swifts had a not-so-new name in their starting line up as they defeated New Salamis at Coles Park last night- and Sam Bantick made his usual immediate impact, scoring the opening goal from the spot.

Sam recently departed Grays Athletic, although he'd only been there for a short time after departing Enfield.

He was only at Enfield since the summer, as he spent last season with Grays, scoring twenty two goals.

Athletic signed Sam in the summer of 22 from Hashtag United. He got ten goals for the Tags during the 22-23 campaign in two spells, and another ten in between those periods with United, when he spent a short time at Coggeshall Town.

Sam has played for a fairly hefty number of Pitching In Isthmian clubs, including Brentwood Town, Canvey Island, Romford, Cambridge City, Enfield Town, Heybridge Swifts (of course), Aveley and Tonbridge Angels. He has guaranteed goals for virtually all of them.

Last night Swifts travelled to New Salamis looking to get back to winning ways after defeats against the top two, and they managed that- but it wasn't as easy as the scoreline might suggest. Bantick's spot kick put them on the way to victory on thirty three minutes, but it was the closing stages of the match before the result was put to bed. Jack Adlington added number two with ninety minutes already on the clock, and somehow Lewis Watson still had time to add a third.

Swifts are up to seventh- outside the top five only on goal difference.
