Barking up the sponsorship tree!

Harrow Borough are celebrating the signing of a new kit sponsorship deal with one of the nation's leading pet food companies for the 2016-17 Ryman League season.

Boro officials say they are "delighted" to be teaming up with Hemel Hempstead-based company Pet Food UK who have signed a two year front of shirt sponsorship deal with the Ryman Premier club.

Set up in 2008, the firm's Barking Heads and Meowing Heads brands for our four legged friends are known for their colourful packaging and left-field names including ‘Bad Hair Day’ and ‘Fat Dog Slim'.

Borough’s shirts for the next two seasons will carry the Barking Heads motif of Bailey, the cheeky dog from the company's advertising. Harrow Borough chairman Peter Rogers isn't expecting a rush of new pet owners at Earlsmead but is delighted with the financial boost and the attention their new sponsors are already bringing.

He said: “We are very excited about our new sponsors. Our meetings with Pet Food UK have been very positive and, although I don’t expect a sudden rush of club members acquiring dogs and cats, nevertheless we will be promoting Barking Heads and Meowing Heads in every way we can in the coming two years.

“I’m unaware of any other team wearing a dog’s head on their shirts and I expect this to be a talking point with our opposition as well as within the club.”

Pet Food UK co-founder Dave O’Regan said: "This might seem an unusual diversion for a pet food manufacturer but we have been looking to run a sports sponsorship deal for some time. Our company is full of football nuts so that’s the direction we have moved in.

"Harrow Borough is a forward-thinking, community-oriented and friendly club, and we have had a warm welcome from the board of directors there. With a bit of luck we hope the team can have a cup run and showcase the Barking Heads brand to our football-mad and dog-loving nation.”
