Bay to help Ash realise his dream

Herne Bay and Ashford United fans- please bring cash on Saturday to help get Ash to Old Trafford

Herne Bay have announced a special fundraiser at Saturday's match against Ashford United- and they'd be grateful for the kind donations of all present.

The club are supporting the Strode Park Foundation in their drive to help one of the young people they support, Manchester United supporting Ash, to Old Trafford to watch a match.

The Foundation, which is based in Kent and provides a wide range of nursing, residential and respite Care, neuro-rehabilitation, home care and support, adult day care and therapy services and much more, explains:

'We have one proud and super huge Manchester United fan in our Faversham home.

Ash has a brain injury from childhood, and throughout his life he has always found great joy in football, and supporting his favourite team. He also plays for his local disability football team, and he loves to tell us all about his matches and how Sunday training is going. It’s his real passion in life.
Unfortunately, like so many of us, Ash hasn’t been able to get out and enjoy his passions, and just like the rest of us, he’s been feeling the pressure.

We think it would be an amazing surprise, and really raise his spirits if we could give Ash the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle and atmosphere of a big game with his favourite team. He recently celebrated his birthday and was overjoyed to receive a membership pack, but now we’d like to go one better for him and crowdfund to send him to a home game with a carer.

This would be a complete surprise. We need to raise around £350 which will include tickets and travel to Manchester, and we would love to send him to a game this year before the season finishes.
Can you help make a donation to make his wish come true?'

The club have taken on the challenge of raising the full amount required- and that's where you come in. We know that many people haven't used cash in quite a while, but on this occasion, if you are attending the match, please bring some! There will be a bucket collection at the match, and you won't just be walking past the bucket, club volunteers will be bringing it to you wherever you may be standing or sitting- so you won't have to go looking for a donation point. Please give generously.

You can read more about the magnificent work done by the Foundation by heading to their website, here.

And if you are not able to get to the match but would like to donate, then you can do that, too. If you head to their Facebook Page, here, then you can add to the total without even getting out of your armchair.

We're sure that Ash's dream will soon come true, and we hope that he has a marvellous time!
