Becks go second, Hawks hit four- whilst City and Hythe make it five wins from six

By Ian Townsend

It was a big night for Beckenham, Whitehawk, Chichester and Hythe- whilst the Hillians won their big Mid Sussex derby

Beckenham Town had gone three without a win as they travelled to Cray Valley PM last night- but they ended that run as they twice came from behind and then delivered a killer blow right at the end. The Millers had a winles run of their own, but it looked to be coming to an end as Ade Adeyemo gave them an early lead and Hassan Ibrahiym restored it from the spot after Danny Waldren’s equaliser, but the fourth and fifth goals of an exciting game both went the way of the visitors. First Harvey Brand levelled just before half time, and then, when it looked as if both sides would have to settle for a point, Louie Theophanous popped up with a winner three minutes from time. Becks are up to second, a point behind leaders Ramsgate and three ahead of Chatham Town, both of whom play tonight.

Lancing travelled along the coast road that separates them and Brighton Marina searching for a third consecutive victory, but hosts Whitehawk had other ideas, and climbed back up to fourth with a thumping victory. Rob O’Toole opened the scoring on the quarter hour, and although the Lancers toiled they conceded another on sixty six minutes. Charlie Harris making it two. Stefan Wright made quite sure of the points with a third twelve minutes from time, and right at the end Luke Robinson added another. Image from Andy Schofield- more here.

Chichester City have been in fine form of late, and closed to within two points of the top five with a comfortable win over Littlehampton Town. City have now taken sixteen points from their last six matches, and were quickly ahead, Steve Hutchings scoring his second goal in two matches. He got another from the spot eight minutes from time to round off victory, with a twenty fifth minute goal from Ethan Pritchard between the two.

Hythe Town, on their best run of the season with four wins from their last five, made it five wins from six as they welcomed Sittingbourne to the seaside. The Cannons close to within three points of fifth place, but it needed a late, late goal to deliver the points, despite playing much of the game against nine men. Sergio Uyi saw red for the Brickies on the half hour, Youssouf Bamba joined him little over half an hour later, and the decisive goal came from Toby Bancroft right at the end.

We had a Mid Sussex derby- and if possible it was even more crucial than usual. Burgess Hill Town had slipped into the bottom four after eight matches without a win, but they leapt out of the relegation places and ensured that hosts Haywards Heath Town replaced them there with a two-nil win at Hanbury Park. A goal in each half earned the points for the Hillians, Kai Brown with the opener on twenty two minutes, Josh Spink with number two half an hour later.

Finally, East Grinstead Town and Three Bridges met in an A264 derby. The Wasps started the day two points clear of their closest rivals and must have thought they’d extended that gap to five, but they were undone by a Kieron Pamment equaliser four minutes from time. They’d been ahead for sixty four minutes, Tahjae Anderson with the opener midway through the first half.
