Bees and Newby go their separate ways

Basildon's interim boss departs

Basildon United have announced the departure of their interim boss Kris Newby.

Newby was brought to the club by former manager John Sussex in September as a player, and thrust into the hot seat at the end of last year, overseeing his first match as manager on New Years Day as the Bees walloped Grays Athletic by four goals to two. He has since delivered two draws and a defeat, the draws coming against Histon and yesterday against promotion contenders Coggeshall Town, the defeat at home to Dereham Town in midweek.

A club statement explains:

'The club have this morning parted ways with interim manager Kris Newby by mutual consent.

We would like to thank Kris and his management team for their hard work during their time in charge.

A full statement on the future direction of the club will follow later today.'
