Bees and Swifts go goal mad!

By Ian Townsend

Three of our North Division matches last night had two goals between them. The other two had eleven!

Neither Basildon United nor Heybridge Swifts had managed to pick up so much as a point as they went into last night’s fixtures, but goodness they turned around their fortunes in style.

Swifts were hosting our leaders, Hullbridge Sports. They were two goals up within six minutes, three by half time, and five by the end, as Sports good run crashed around their ears. Jack Humphrey and George Craddock fired the opening salvo, Jack Adlington-Pile got the third right on half time, and after the break Ernest Okoh and Andrew Fennell made more than sure of the points.

The Bees were on the road, to face unbeaten Great Wakering Rovers. Well Rovers most certainly aren’t unbeaten any more, as the Bees went to town, striking five goals before half time and then easing off in the second half, when they got only one. Samual Jeremiah got the first and the fourth, Bradley Greene and Sonny Dutton the two in between, and Tyrone Baker hit number five just before the break. Joshua Rusoke made it six twenty minutes before the end, which can’t have come soon enough for the home fans.

A point each from the match between Dereham Town and Histon put the two sides first and second, but neither managed a goal. Grays Athletic and Maldon and Tiptree only managed one each, but they were the only goals of the game in impressive victories at Tilbury and Canvey Island respectively.

The Grays goal at Chadfields came from Joseph Agunbiade, and lifted them to sixth place, behind their hosts only on goal difference, whilst the Jammers strike came from Adam Vyse- their first league win of the season after two draws.

Robins leave it late- but hit the summit It was a night of late goals in the South Central Division last night- many of them scored by Ogo Obi!
Shock and Awe! Only two points separate the top seven in the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Division after last night’s results, on a night which was full of shocks and surprises.
