Bees secure their manager- and many more

Basildon United's preparation for next season continues apace

Basildon United last night moved to secure manager John Guyton on a two year deal.

Guyton took charge of the side in mid September, and was still in the process of rebuilding his squad when the season crashed to an end, but 'recent' results were extremely promising- particularly a six-nil thrashing of Great Wakering Rovers and draws with promotion chasing Canvey Island and AFC Sudbury. The former Bowers and Pitsea Under 23 boss has made an extremely positive impression, and it's no surprise that new chair Lee Connor has taken steps to secure him.

Along with the manager, the club also announced that they'd secured Sam Jeremiah, Joshua Rusoke and Ben Brookes from last season's squad, whilst bringing in two new players- striker Luke Hirst and defender Jack Martin. Jack previously played for Hashtag United, whilst Luke started last season with Grays Athletic- but was previously prolific for Guyton's Under 23 side at Bowers.
