BetVictor Isthmian League Manager of the Month Awards- sponsored by Anderson Travel: October 2019

By Ian Townsend

The winners of the October Manager of the Month Awards- sponsored by the fabulous folk at Anderson Travel- have just been announced.

October was rather an exciting month in League and Cup (and Trophy), but we’re focusing on the former, and here are our Manager of the Month winners, sponsored by Anderson Travel.

Premier

Enfield Town have had a fabulous start to the season, and had an excellent October, taking ten points out of twelve and defeating Brightlingsea Regent, Cray Wanderers and Cheshunt. They also defeated Bishop’s Stortford in the FA Trophy- although that doesn’t count towards this award! Andy Leese’s men have lost only one league match all season, fewer than any other club in the Division- but whether it’s their mean defence or potent attack that has won Andy this award, we’ll leave you to decide.

North

We’re off to Heybridge, home of those black and white Swifts, where we are honouring manager Karl Duguid.

Swifts took seven points from nine during the month, defeating Witham Town and Soham Town Rangers whilst drawing with Basildon United. This left Karl tied for this month’s award, but he picks it up on goal difference! Congratulations to Karl and all at Scraley Road.

South Central

We’ve already given Chertsey Town one award this month, but we’re off to the Curfews once more with another. Three league matches, three wins, thirteen goals scored and only five conceded saw October turn out mighty fine for all at Alwyns Lane- and now it sees manager Kevin Maclaren pick up our prize, once more courtesy of his side’s better goal difference than a rival with a similar record.

They’re going to need a bigger trophy cabinet if this continues!

South East

It seems to flow nicely that, having given the award for the South Central Division to Chertsey Town, we now hand the gong for the South East Division to their FA Vase Final opponents Cray Valley PM. The Millers have been magnificent since the start of the season, and as we write this sit at the top of the table, having won more matches than any of their rivals. Nine points from nine during October suggests they couldn’t really have done any better, as Ashford United, Faversham Town and Burgess Hill Town came, saw and were conquered.

Congratulations to Kevin Watson on a most deserved accolade.
