BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20: Hornchurch

We’re back in the Premier Division, where ‘ornchurchFest is starting early, courtesy of Ann Hodgkinson.

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Hornchurch have dropped their AFC, so are experiencing the unusual feeling of not being top of the league before a ball is kicked. How will they do when the season starts? Ann Hodgkinson gives her views.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

The first season back in the Premier Division is always a tough one. So probably obtaining enough points to stay up was my favourite moment of last season.

2. And your worst moment?

I don't have a worst moment, but seeing the team drop points during games where we were leading or doing well against the stronger teams in the division was disappointing.

3. How will you do this season?

Firstly, I don't agree with Hornchurch being the bookies league favourites. I think that we will do better than last season and finish higher than where we finished, but there have been too many changes in the past year and the team needs time to work together and move forward together before we think about being promoted from this league.

I trust Mark Stimpson to do a good job this season and look forward to what comes our way. So I would put Hornchurch in an honest mid-table spot and if anything higher is achieved then that's a great bonus.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Hopefully be able to finally get to Merstham away or a day down at Lewes. Otherwise, any new grounds in a hopeful FA Cup / Trophy run would be great.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I don’t seem to do many away games any more, but one that stands out from last season was Lewes away on the last day of the season.
You’ve got to love a good Ploughmans in the John Harvey Tavern in town before the game.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Billericay!

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Get to the club early and enjoy the view from our outside terrace, providing the weather is good!

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

I don't have a favourite player, but a couple who do stand out more than others are Elliott Styles for his long service with the club, and Simon Parker who scored the winner against Weymouth in the FA Cup back in 2008.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Worthing, Margate, Bognor Regis Town, Folkestone Invicta, Lewes.
