Former Crawley Town defender Ben Wells is new at Billericay Town

Billericay Town yesterday strengthened their defence with the signing of former Crawley Town man Ben Wells.

Ben played youth and Under 18 football for West Ham United before leaving East London for West London and swapping claret and blue for the hoops of Queens Park Rangers. Whilst playing for the Super Hoops he spent loan time at Concord Rangers, and after leaving Loftus Road he ended up playing National League South football for Welling United.

Crawley Town signed him prior to the start of last season, and he was immediately thrust into their squad, where he made nine appearances, notably in the Carabao Cup Second Round win over Premier League Fulham, where he emerged from the bench during the second half, and in the subsequent Third Round defeat at Burnley, where he started.
