Blues bring in Bancroft- and bag the win

Wingate & Finchley bring in forward- and win for the first time in eighty four days

Wingate and Finchley last week signed winger Toby Bancroft, gave him his debut- and then won a league match for the first time in eighty four days.

Toby came through the ranks at Gillingham FC, starting as an under ten before signing on scholarship terms in November 2017 and going on to play regularly for the Under 18's side. He has most recently been turning out at Ramsgate, where he has made six appearances, scoring once.

He started for the Blues at Bishop's Stortford on Saturday (although they've called him Tony, which we assume is a typo unless he's changed his name by deed poll since last week!), wearing the number nine shirt, before being replaced by Bilal Sayoud in the sixty sixth minute. It was Sayoud who got the last minute winner which, although it couldn't lift the Blues off the bottom of the table, did get them to within four points of safety.
