Blues issue statement on wanted man

Ryman Premier Grays Athletic are welcoming interest in midfielder Nathan Ferguson but insist he remains a Blues player.

Following speculation in the national media on Thursday linking the 20-year-old with Championship Reading, the Blues issued a statement regarding reports that Royals boss Steve Clark was looking to bolster his ranks with the dynamic box-to-box central midfielder.

A number of Football League scouts have reportedly watched Ferguson in action already this season and the promotion hunting Blues said: "Grays Athletic Football club would like to clarify its position with regards to the recent national news stories regarding Reading Football club's interest in Blues midfielder Nathan Ferguson.

"Nathan remains a Grays Athletic player and is available for selection for this Saturday's FA Cup Second Qualifying Round match against Hullbridge Sports.

"Nathan has impressed this season so far and is working hard for Mark Bentley's Blues. Nathan has attracted some interest from a number of clubs, however Nathan remains a Grays Athletic player.

"We see the interest in Nathan's ability for the club as a positive for Grays Athletic. No further statement will be made on this matter."

The Blues host Essex Senior League outfit Hullbridge Sports in a 3pm kick-off at Mill Field on Saturday.
