Blues sign a pair of Rocks

Stortford begin their squad building by signing two former East Thurrock stars


Bishop's Stortford last night announced the signing of Frankie Merrifield and Ben Marlow, both of whom spent last season at Rookery Hill with East Thurrock United.

Striker Frankie hit the back of the net seventeen times last season, slightly fewer than a goal every two games. He previously played for Stortford between 2014 and 2016, and has also played for AFC Wimbledon, Harrow Borough, Hayes and Yeading United, Chelmsford City and Canvey Island- although primarily as a midfielder.

Ben, a midfielder, made twenty four appearances last season, scoring three goals. He started life as a West Ham United youth player, and indeed played right up to Under 23 level for the Hammers before departing. After that he played for Chelmsford City, and first joined the Rocks in the second part of their promotion-winning 2015-16 season. He has also previously played for Stortford, back in 2014-15, and additionally spent a little time with Canvey Island.
