Boro and the Geordies go to penalties- and Hanwell emerge triumphant

By Ian Townsend

And it's congratulations to Merstham Under 23's, too!

We had a London Senior Cup Quarter Final at Coles Park last night, as Haringey Borough hosted Hanwell Town for the right to take on Tooting & Mitcham United in the Semi-Final at the weekend. The match delivered four goals and ten penalties, the visitors emerging narrowly victorious as they look to win a second trophy in a few weeks.

The Geordies were twice ahead, Robinson in the sixth minute and Obi from the spot after Borough had equalised twice, first through Ismail, and again through Rakim Richards- we believe! The match went to spot kicks, and after the first four had been scored, two for each side, Sobte saved the home sides third and the Geordies held their nerve to take the prize, five-four.

The Semi-Final will be hosted by the Geordies, and take place on Friday at 1945. Winners face AFC Wimbledon in the Final, to be played on Bank Holiday Monday with a 1PM kick off.

Elsewhere, Merstham Under 23's picked up the Combined Counties League Development Division Cup. They charged into a three-nil lead against Redhill, conceded two in the last twenty five minutes, but held on to celebrate a deserved triumph- and they have another cup final on Monday! Congratulations to the Moatsiders.
