Bostik Supporters Predictions 18/19: Mildenhall Town

Damon Barton sings the praises of the Recreational activities available at Recreation Way

We asked supporters of our Bostik League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Damon Barton takes us to Mildenhall Town, and encourages you to enjoy the football- if you can still see it after you’ve sampled all of the ale, cider and lager!

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Probably winning at Maldon & Tiptree, it was a freezing cold day, with biting wind. We didn't get the best reception and it was a great result to win away there. Also when we retained our status in the league.

2. And your worst moment?

It would be having a goal disallowed at Bury. The ball went over the line but the assistant ref didn't give it. Oh well, things sometimes roll for you, and sometimes they don't.

3. How will you do this season?

No idea! We have had a load of players leave, and Dean (the manager) is having to rebuild. We do have Sandsy (John Sands) back at the club, and he can score goals, so let's see...

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Bury Town away probably, as a group of us use public transport to get there, and have a few beers prior. Also it's our local derby and most of our players from last season have gone there! Should make it even more interesting...

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Really enjoyed Hertford last season, we met some good people there, and they didn't mind us supporting our team.

All in a friendly atmosphere. Good lads and nice club... shame they have been moved.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

Soham and Bury I suppose, due to locality.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Make sure you get a bus or get a lift to the ground, because we do have the best bar in the league. Four real ales. 3 ciders, and 4 lagers all on tap- plus the food is spot on, no cheap cereal burgers here.

We were voted the most welcoming club in the whole Bostik League last season.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Probably John Sands, due to the amount of goals he has scored for us.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Heybridge Swifts, Canvey Island, Aveley, Bowers & Pitsea, Coggeshall Town.
