Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Aveley

By Ian Townsend

The next of our season previews features Aveley, soon to move into their new home and represented by supporter Richard Chambers.

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Richard Chambers, representing Aveley

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

The last home game v Hornchurch, big crowd, great send off to Mill Field.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Drawing 0-0 with Bury Town. That was when i realised we weren't going to make the playoffs.

3. How will you do this season?

I'm really confident. The new ground is generating interest, Terry Spillane is proven at this level and we have kept some really key players from last season.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to- and why?

Bowers and Pitsea at home in the first competitive game at Parkside- and Grays Athletic (our tenants) at home on Boxing Day. Both should be bumper crowds.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

For this season, Grays Athletic! But I suppose that doesn’t count. How about Canvey Island – a nice big terrace at one end with a decent view of the river.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

I suppose, now more than ever, it’s going to be Grays for obvious reasons!

7. What advice would you give to an away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Enjoy the bar. It’ll be worth the trip!

8. Who is your favourite player (for your club) of all time- and why?

Funny enough it’s a current player - Adalberto Pinto, gets stuck in, great engine and is good on the ball

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Maldon & Tiptree, AFC Sudbury, AFC Hornchurch, Grays Athletic, Canvey Island.
