Bostik Supporters Preview 17/18: Whyteleafe

By Ian Townsend

We head back into the South Division for the next supporters preview, and visit Whyteleafe, hosted by Adam Willmott.

We asked a supporter from each of our member clubs to answer the same series of questions as part of our preview of the new season. We also asked them to predict how their particular division would finish, from one to 24- and their answers will be revealed in a collection of Supporters Prediction Tables to be released the day before the big kick off.

Here are the answers of Adam Willmott representing Whyteleafe.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

A late winner to win 2-1 away at Chipstead was a highlight, can't beat a bit of late drama.

2. And your worst moment?

A 4-0 thumping away at Three Bridges, who went on to be relegated.

3. How will you do this season?

I think a realistic expectation is a push for a play-off place, building on our mid-table finish under new manager Leigh Dynan last season. There is a feeling he is assembling his players and putting his tactics into action, which should stand us in good stead next season. We finished last season strongly so hopefully we can carry this form onto the next campaign.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Shoreham is a new ground and a seaside trip, so for these reasons this is the game I am most looking forward to. I would be looking forward to Lewes and Guernsey away more if we hadn't drawn both of them away midweek (Typical!)

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Lewes FC - the Dripping Pan is a classic non league venue.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

There's been a bit of a spat with Folkestone Invicta in recent years, and there is a friendly rivalry with Chipstead. However, despite them having a very small fan-base most Whyteleafe fans would consider Merstham to be our biggest rivals due to locality, and some fiercely contested games in recent years.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Visit the Radius Micropub on Godstone Road if you're into Real Ale, there is always a good selection on there and a crowd of friendly Whyteleafe supporters before a Match Day. Whyteleafe is served by two train lines, I'd recommend going to either Whyteleafe Station or Upper Warlingham, both about a five minute walk to the ground. Avoid Whyteleafe South as there is no pavement and it is mostly unlit streets towards the ground.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Being a relative newbie, only beginning watching the club in 2007, my opinion might be different to the wider Whyteleafe support. It is a close one between cool goal-machine Roscoe D'Sane and tricky winger Sam Clayton. I would have to go with Sam Clayton overall, who has had two spells at the club and was an integral part of both the SCEFL winning season and the subsequent play-off season which followed. He is still at the club, a local lad and fast becoming a Whyteleafe legend.

9. Finally, predict who will fill the top five positions at the end of the forthcoming season:

Greenwich Borough, Hastings Utd, Carshalton Athletic, Corinthian Casuals, Whyteleafe

Where next?
