Bracknell end Northwood’s away day run, whilst Sports and Thatcham each hit six

By Ian Townsend

Chertsey got four, Chipstead three, and Binfield shocked the Geordies. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up.

Our leaders, Bracknell Town, starting the day eighteen points ahead of the chasing pack, welcomed Northwood. The visiting Woods had been very difficult to beat of late, having gone nine matches without defeat and even more impressively winning their last seven on the road, but they couldn’t extend that run as the Robins scored three without reply. Seb Bowerman got the first two, taking him up to twenty four for the season, and Aaron McLeish-White added the third seven minutes after half time. The gap remains eighteen points.

Second place Chertsey Town, winners of our ABI Golden Gloves award for February, welcomed Tooting & Mitcham United. The Curfews had gone four matches without conceeding whilst the visiting Terrors had gone nine without a win, but only one of those stats remained at full time. Ashley Lodge opened the scoring for the hosts after just five minutes, but Mark Waters soon equalised for the Terrors, who looked like they’d go in level at half time, but Bryan Taylor had other ideas, restoring the lead for Town. The next goal came eight minutes from time, Sam Murphy making it three-one, but a goal for the Terrors soon afterwards made the closing stages tense. Right at the end William Montague made sure of the points, making it four-two.

Hanwell Town, in third, welcomed Binfield. The Geordies got back to winning ways last time out after three without a victory, whilst the Moles did the same, although their run without victory was a little larger, six matches- which included five draws! They didn’t get a draw this time; indeed they shocked the Geordies despite going behind. Sam Saunders gave the hosts a seventeenth minute lead, but that woke up the Moles, who then got three of their own without further reply, James Beauchamp with two of them, sandwiching another from Sean Moore. Andy O’Brien then saw red for the hosts.

Even Hanwell supporting Kennedy the Hearing Dog was unhappy, although he doesn't look it!

Uxbridge welcomed a side two places and one point behind them, Basingstoke Town. Uxbridge were unbeaten in four but had drawn their last two, whilst the visitors saw a six game unbeaten run come to an end when losing to the leaders last time out. Uxbridge forward Mahlondo Martin saw red on twenty six minutes, and Town took advantage of their extra man, Stefan Brown putting them ahead after half an hour and Lloyd Snell making sure of the points ten minutes from time to send his side up to fourth.

Bedfont Sports picked up the Manager of the Month Award for February, and looked to strengthen their claim on a top five place as they welcomed second-bottom Chalfont St Peter. They did more than that, cocking a snook at any curse and scoring six goals through six different scorers as the Saints not only failed to come marching in but were walked all over. Giovanni Palmer gave Sports the lead on nineteen minutes, and it was still one-nil at half time before the hosts went goal crazy, Daniel Williams, Darryl Sanders, Kevin Diomande, Joseph Morrison and Lewis Flatman adding five more, taking their side up to third.

Marlow were on the road- or rather, on the plane- to take on Guernsey. The Green Lions had lost only one of their last six whilst their visitors has hit an inconsistent period, with three wins from ten- and it was the hosts who hit their visitors promotion hopes with two goals, one at the end of each half. Will Fazakerley opened the scoring right before the break, and Ross Allen made sure with the second, right at the end.

South Park, fresh from winning our Pitching In Performance of the Month award for walloping Marlow, were on the road to Woking to take on Westfield. Melford Simpson was their hero, scoring at the start of the match and three minutes before the end, to earn them victory despite a late consolation for the hosts. Jacob Breckon got that one.

Ashford Town and Chipstead met in a mid table clash, and three first half goals sent the Chips above their hosts. Andy Kabuikusomo got the first two, Jack Beadle the third, and the visitors held on despite being reduced to ten men when Daryl Coleman saw red.

Thatcham Town, under new management, travelled to take on our bottom side, Staines Town. The Swans had taken one point from their last twenty seven, whilst the Kingfishers had taken only seven from thirty, so we weren’t necessarily expecting a classic- but it will live long in the memory of the travelling fans, who got six. Kusel-Gabriel Tone gave the visitors the lead just before the break, and there was still time for Harvey Harry to make it two before the orange segments were served. Just after the break Daniel Fosu got number three, and with seventeen minutes to go Harvey Harry got number four. Fosu got number five from the spot, at which point the hosts woke up and got one back, Ernest Murmylo with that one. The same player later got the Swans second, but by that time the visitors had a sixth, Taylor Harry with that one.
