Bridges can make the grade

Three Bridges

Three Bridges manager Paul Faili believes his team have come of age and are only a couple of players short of being one of Ryman South's most competitive sides.

Bridges won 4-3 in the FA Trophy's First Qualifying Round at Cheshunt on Saturday and Faili has also seen a lot of positives in their recent league outings.

Faili said: "We've started off the season better than we did last year, we're a lot more confident and we are playing some good football. I can now confidently say we are no longer a Sussex County League side playing in the Ryman League. We're a Ryman team playing in the Ryman League."

The Bridges manager is also on the lookout for a striker and a wide man to put the finishing touches to his squad at Jubilee Field.

"I'd like to sign up another winger, and definitely another forward," said Faili. "We already have plenty of pacey strikers. However, when you're pinging balls up there you need a 6ft 3in giant to bury it.

"We've got our eye on some players in the Sussex County League who we believe can play at this level and we're looking to bring in two quality players within the next couple of weeks."
