Brooking era ends with handover

Frank Thompson has succeeded Tony Brooking after he stood down as the secretary at the Ryman Premier's Metropolitan Police.

Highly-respected across the Non-League game and the brother of Sir Trevor Brooking, Brooking, the Surrey-based club's secretary for more than two decades after taking over from Derek Alldridge, resigned at the start of November.

Met Police FC chairman Des Flanders paid tribute to to Brooking, describing their outgoing administrator as a 'hard act to follow' for his successor at Imber Court.

Flanders said: "Tony is highly respected across the Non-League football world and particularly by our football regulators with whom he has carried on business over such a long time and will therefore be a hard act to follow.

"Frank is a very experienced football administrator and will be particularly well known to all at Imber Court and anyone associated with our junior teams. Our thanks to Frank for putting himself forward and best wishes as he takes us forward for the remainder of the season."
