Bury Town and Ben Chenery part ways- after eleven years

Pitching In Isthmian North side Bury Town have announced the departure of manager Ben Chenery, 'by mutual consent.'

Ben became Assistant Manager at the club in 2012, and took over the top job two years later. Prior to his time as a manager Ben had a successful playing career, with the likes of Cambridge United, Ipswich Town and Luton Town. He was a big part of the Canvey Island success of the early 2000's scoring the winning goal as the Gulls won the FA Trophy with victory over Forest Green Rovers in 2001. He also played for Chelmsford City, and eventually became Assistant Manager with the Clarets.

The club explained in a statement:

'The (last) two seasons have been inconsistent and following several meetings this week it has been decided that the club will go in a different direction. The Club will use the remaining two months of the season to plan ahead so that we are in a strong position to start the 2023-24 campaign.'

Town are currently 11th in the table. They have gone six matches without a win, and have failed to score in any of those.
