Buster keeps Soham in hunt

By Peter Butcher

ONLY one Ryman North match tonight (Thursday) had any significance in the promotion or relegation stakes, and that was at Tilbury, where Soham kept their play-off bid flickering with a 1-0 victory.

Buster Harradine’s 32nd-minute goal decided it and Soham, who are seventh, moved to within three points of Heybridge and Witham, though both those sides have played one fewer game.

Steve Butterworth scored twice in added time to give Brentwood a 4-2 win at Waltham Abbey, who led 2-1 at half-time with goals from Louis Bristow and Joe Pearman sandwiching one by Ross Wall for the visitors.

Sam West made it 2-2 in the 73rd minute and that looked set to be the final score until Butterworth produced his late show.

Wroxham beat visiting Harlow 3-0. Matt Daniels gave the Yachtsmen a half-time lead which was stretched by Matt Blake and Dan Self.
