Can the Baggies bounce into the top five?

By Ian Townsend

Badshot Lea face a difficult task in Hanworth, Northwood look to rediscover a winning formula against Rovers, whilst Casuals and the Yellas are both desperate for points. It’s our South Central preview.

Badshot Lea take their fine run on the road this evening, where they face last seasons Play Off Finalists Hanworth Villa. The Baggies are in fine form, having taken twenty five points from their last ten matches, and sit on the cusp of the top five, two points behind fifth place Marlow. The Villains have only lost two of their last ten, a run which has propelled them up the table, but with only two points from the last nine available to them will hope that this evening sees them back to winning ways, the top five already ten points away.

Northwood had a magnificent 22-23, but 23-24 has been a rather different beast so far, and the Woods find themselves out of the bottom two only on goal difference and seven points behind tonight’s visitors, Sutton Common Rovers. The Woods have been in freefall, having taken only four points from their last ten matches, whilst rovers will be buoyant, three unbeaten and having won their last two whilst scoring seven goals. Last season the Woods took six points from their encounters with Rovers, so the visitors will have revenge on their minds.

Corinthian-Casuals and Ascot United start the day with one place and one point between them, in favour of the side in pink and brown. Both sides have had their struggles this season, the hosts taking eight points from the last thirty available, the visitors only seven. It’s perhaps too early in the season to call this a relegation clash, but both sides will want to start putting daylight between themselves and the bottom two.
