Can the chasing pack narrow the gap?

By Ian Townsend

Northwood have a five point lead- but a difficult match at Basingstoke, whilst second place Binfield are finally back in league action. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central preview

Northwood will be delighted to have finally defeated their bogey side, Ashford Town, in midweek- in the Middlesex Cup- but our leaders are back to league action and travel to face fourth place Basingstoke Town. Stoke are four matches unbeaten, haven’t conceded a goal during those four matches, and won three of them- so will be confident that they can begin reeling in the seven point gap between them and their visitors.

Binfield are having a magnificent season, but put their unbeaten league record to the test as they travel to face South Park. The Sparks are also having a positive campaign and could go level with the Moles on points if they could win- but won’t go above them unless that victory is of an entirely unrealistic scale, the goal difference gap between the two being fourteen!

Walton & Hersham will also fancy themselves to be promotion challengers, nine points behind the leaders but with four games in hand. The Swans welcome third place Chertsey Town to the Sports Hub, and will be playing only their second league match since the end of August, such has been their knock out endeavours. The Curfews are in decent form, having win their last two league matches without conceding a goal.

Marlow start the day in fifth, and travel to face tenth place Hanworth Villa. The Villains have taken seven points from their last nine and have only one league defeat this season, whilst Marlow have gone three matches in all competitions without a win- but could climb as high as second with three points.

Ashford Town could make it into the top five if they could defeat winless Merstham, the Moatsiders desperate for three points to hopefully climb off the bottom. The Tangerines have four points from their last two league matches, their visitors only three from seven.

We’ve a West London derby as Bedfont Sports welcome Southall, Sports having only one win this season whilst their visitors are on a five match unbeaten league run- but drew all of them!

Tooting & Mitcham United will hope to build on their one win so far this season as they welcome Westfield, and if they get that win would go ahead of the Woking side, who are without a league win since August 16th.

Thatcham Town welcome Sutton Common Rovers. The Kingfishers have looked much improved whilst taking four points from their last six, whilst Rovers have only one point from their last eighteen and will be desperate to get back to winning ways.

Finally, Leatherhead, under the new leadership of Hayden Bird, welcome Chipstead to Fetcham Grove. The Tanners have only one win this season, and have drawn their last three, whilst the Chips lost to Basingstoke Town last time out and are only one point ahead of their hosts.
