Can the Nuts and Bolts close the gap?

By Ian Townsend

We’ve one match in the Pitching In Isthmian South East tonight, and it’s important at both ends of the table.

East Grinstead Town have seen their previous good form desert them over the last few weeks, taking only one point from their last five matches, and will be looking nervously over their shoulders at the wrong end of the table when they host promotion-chasing Ashford United tonight.

The Nuts and Bolts start the night in second place, ten points behind leaders Hastings United with a game in hand, and if they are to have any chance of catching the leaders with only nine matches remaining surely need to take all three points tonight. They haven’t had much luck against Sussex sides of late- indeed their last three defeats were against Three Bridges, Hastings and Haywards Heath Town- but they have won four in a row since that defeat to the Wasps rivals further along the A264 and shouldn’t be short of confidence.

The last time the two met, way back in August, the Kent side won two-one.

Tonight’s match kicks off at 7.30 PM.
