Caretaker takes charge after manager's fallout

Sittingbourne's assistant manager Barry Crimmen has been asked to hold the fort at the Ryman South's Brickies following the departure of manager Matt Wyatt.

Wyatt, pictured, left the club following their 1-0 defeat to Faversham Town in the first round of the Ryman League's Robert Dyas Cup on Tuesday night.

Officials at Woodstock Park revealed on Wednesday that Wyatt had resigned a week ago following a disagreement with the club's committee but had stayed on for wins over Whitstable Town and Walton & Hersham before taking charge for the final time.

Wyatt left the Brickies in fourth spot and Crimmen will be at the helm for the first time on Saturday when they host South Park in Ryman South action. He will assisted by Warren Chambers who has stepped up to fill his former role.

Brickies officials have wished Wyatt well and say they had no choice but to accept his resignation despite the club’s flying start to the season.

Secretary John Pitts said: "We were very pleased with the job Matt did on the pitch but there were irreconcilable differences between him and the committee. Matt has said things about the budget and the pitch and has managed to fall out with every committee member at one point or another during his time with us."

Wyatt was appointed in September 2013 after a brief but successful spell as caretaker manager alongside captain Nick Davis. Davis resigned as joint manager in July before Wyatt continued as sole manager.
