Charity begins at...Carshalton and Romford

Two clubs announce charity initiatives

We had two clubs announce charity initiatives yesterday- and we thought we'd start at Carshalton, as their appeal starts on Saturday!

The Robins will be hosting Tooting and Mitcham United in the FA Trophy, and they'd like you to turn up at Colston Avenue with your arms full of groceries (actually, you might be as well to put them in a bag, you won't get many in your arms), as they are collecting for a local food bank.

The club have particularly requested long-life orange juice, tinned rice pudding, tinned spaghetti and dried milk, breakfast cereals, soup, pasta, rice, tinned beans/meat/vegetables/fruit, tea or coffee, sugar, biscuits and snacks- but so long as your donation is something that can be easily stored in a cupboard (i.e. it doesn't need to be refrigerated) then please bring it along. The club will then generously head to the supermarket themselves and DOUBLE whatever supporters donate.

This initiative isn't only for the Tooting match, but also for the home games against Cray Wanderers and Bognor Regis Town, so supporters of the Terrors, the Wands and the Rocks can all help too. Read more here.

Moving on to Romford, manager/owner Glenn Tamplin has announced a drive to collect clothes and shoes to donate to homeless charities. Supporters should bring their unwanted items to the home matches against Barking and Tilbury on 27th and 30th November respectively.
