Charman equals Hornets record

Horsham legend Gary Charman reaches club's record appearance total

Horsham have confirmed that club legend Gary Charman equaled the Hornets appearance record when he emerged from the bench in the seventy sixth minute of the draw with Bognor Regis Town on Tuesday night. He was wearing that yellow shirt for the six hundred and fourteenth time- and it was quite appropriate that the Rocks were the opponents, as he is a living legend there, too!

Gary made his senior debut with the club back in 1998, and our image below comes from a later date, the FA Cup draw with Swansea City back in November 2007. He is currently on his fourth spell with the club- imagine how many appearances he'd be on if he'd never left- having rejoined for the 2019-20 campaign. As well as Bognor, he has also played for Eastbourne Borough, Lewes and Walton & Hersham.

On Saturday the Hornets travel to Kingstonian in the FA Cup, and it could be that King George's Field gets to witness an appearance record two Saturday's in a row, following Rob Tolfrey's K's record last weekend- although Rob is more than fifty behind the Hornets masked marvel!

Many congratulations to Gary on equaling the record- and, hopefully, on becoming the undisputed Horsham number one in the very near future.
