Christian Mbulu R.I.P.

By Ian Townsend

Our condolences

We were shocked to hear this morning of the passing of Christian Mbulu, who was aged only twenty three years old.

Christian came through the youth ranks at East Thurrock United, played for Brentwood Town, and joined the professional ranks at Millwall. He made a small number of loan appearances at Canvey Island, before going on to play for Motherwell, Crewe Alexandra and- most recently- Morecambe.

He was an inspiration to all young footballers in our league with hopes of making the step up to the professional ranks, and his passing has brought many tributes. The Rocks stated:

'Everyone at the club sends our sincere condolences to his family and many friends among the footballing fraternity, who are very much in our thoughts at this desperate time.'

The Gulls added:

'We are shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely passing on one-time Canvey loanee defender Christian Mbulu. A tragedy at the age of 23. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this terrible time.'

Love and condolences to Christian's friends and family, from all at the Isthmian League.
