Harlow Town beat AFC Hornchurch 3-1 at the Harlow Arena on Sunday to earn promotion to the Ryman League Premier Division next season alongside Division One North champions AFC Sudbury

* The Hawks finished third, ten points ahead of the Urchins in the regular season, and in front of a crowd of 1,655 the final league placings didn’t lie, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Harlow went ahead after 12 minutes when Alex Read and Junior Dadson combined to deliver cross to Piers Wixon, who fired into roof of the net, although the ball looked to have gone in off Urchins` defender Elliot Styles.

The home side doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark when the lively Read took on Hornchurch`s keeper Sam Mott, and when he had feinted to shoot and put the keeper on the floor, he selflessly squared the ball for Wixon to fire into an empty net.

But four minutes before the break the Urchins got themselves back into the game when they were awarded a penalty which George Purcell confidently put away.

However, with 20 minutes remaining, Danny Chapman`s Hawks confirmed their place in the Premier Division when Layne Eadie collected the ball in midfield and unleashed a tremendous effort from 30 yards that flew past Mott. Despite 11 minutes of injury-time, Harlow held firm to the joy of their supporters.
