Surrey Senior Cup Final

After securing a sixth placed finish in the Ryman League's top flight, the Met Police added the Surrey Senior Cup to their trophy cabinet on Wednesday night.

Two first half goals earned Jimmy Cooper's side a 2-0 win over Ryman South play-off winners Merstham to lift the trophy at Woking's Kingfield Stadium, pictured. Beaten 6-0 by Woking in last year's final, the Met last won the county's silverware back in 1933.

This time around the Met took a 32nd minute when Jake Reid side-footed home a Bradley Hudson-Odoi cross. Cooper's side were more fortunate to net their second a minute before the break, Charlie Collins converting from the penalty spot after the Moatsiders were penalised for a handball from a corner.

Despite starting the second half brightly with striker Taurean Roberts proving a handful for the Met's defence, Merstham couldn't find a way back into their third big game in a week following Saturday's 3-0 win at Folkestone Invicta which won Hayden Bird's side promotion into the Ryman's top flight for the first time in their history.
